Boot Camp Units 3 & 4
Click HERE for Units 3 & 4 pages from the EOCT Boot Camp Booklet from Mrs. Mackie's review session! (That would include all the formulas for circles, example circles problems, and the graphic organizer for complex numbers!)
Analytic Geometry week of 5/11/15
Big week this week! Monday & Tuesday, students will be participating in Boot Camp, a study tactic wherein they will be switching among the geometry teachers for a high-intensity review session focused on a different unit with each teacher. Students will experience 2 sessions per day, for two days. Then on Wednesday & Thursday, it's EOC time! Our state assessment time has arrived - students will take this test online, in a computer lab (students with 3rd period will eat A lunch, THEN report to the testing site!). Friday will be the introduction of our PBL, as well as the opportunity to re-take Unit 7 test in class for any students who needed it.
Almost there!
Almost there!

Analytic Geometry week of 5/4/15
This week, we will be reviewing for the EOC (which is Wednesday 5/13 and Thursday 5/14) as well as the final exam (which is either Wednesday 5/20 or Thursday 5/21, depending on which period you take geometry). I can't believe we're already at this point of the year, but it's not quite over yet! This week is the final push. Below, you will find the different pages for reviewing all the different units & topics we have learned this semester, as well as a few more resources & questions provided by the state to help us prepare for the EOC.
One more opportunity my students have this week - it is Amnesty Week in Mrs. Mackie's geometry class... if you are a parent of one of my students and you don't know what that means, please ask your child! And if you are one of my students, please do't forget to sign up BEFORE the unit you need! And remember Friday is the absolute LAST DAY for this, so plan ahead!
Here is the link to the file with all the review pages for this week: EOC/Final Review Questions
Answers will be uploaded as they become available...

Analytic Geometry week of 2/23/15
This week, we'll be diving into the world of imaginary numbers, the subject matter of Unit 4 - Extending the Number System. It's all about what happens when you try to take the square root of a negative number (your calculator won't even give you an answer if you try to use it)! We'll also be examining the different ways to represent radicals - you don't have to use just the radical symbol! The schedule for the week should look like this:
Mon 2/23 - Refresher on simplifying square roots & intro to imaginary numbers
Tues 2/24 - Imaginary and complex numbers
Wed 2/25 - Continuing work with imaginary & complex numbers
Thurs 2/26 - Exponent rules refresher & simplifying exponents
Fri 2/27 - Converting radical and exponentials; rational and irrational numbers
As always, check the tab "Class notes & handouts" to get a second look at any power points or lessons from class, another copy of a handout or homework you may need, or a graphic organizer you may be missing.

Analytic Geometry week of 2/16/15
Well, after an eventful start to the week - of 2 unexpected days off! - let's get this show back on the road! Our Unit 3 Test that was originally scheduled for Tuesday 2/17/15 will be given on Thursday 2/19/15 instead, and the rest of the schedule adjusted accordingly. This (shortened) week should look like this:
Wednesday 2/18 - Finish Review stations from last Friday, and work on test review materials in class (whatever isn't completed in class becomes homework). It is to be turned in on test day, as usual, as was announced in class. Students should check their answers posted here as well.
Thursday 2/19 - Unit 3 Test (Circles & Volume)
Friday 2/20 - Intro to Unit 4 - Extending the Number System
As always, please check the tab above for any notes, lessons, handouts, etc. from class that you may have missed, need an extra copy of, or would just like to go back and review.

Analytic Geometry week of 2/9/15
This week, we'll be finishing up Unit 3 - Circles, focusing on all the different types of line segments in circles, and the relationships that exist between them, as well as the angles that they can make. Then we'll move on to 3-dimensional figures like cylinders, pyramids, cones, and spheres, as well as their real-world applications. The schedule this week should go something like this:
Monday 2/9 - Peer teaching activity on inscribed angles
Tuesday 2/10 - Tangent lines lesson
Wednesday 2/11 - Intro to 3-dimensional figures
Thursday 2/12 - Continuing in 3-dimensions
Friday 2/13 - 3-dimensions in the real world
The Unit 3 Test is scheduled for next Tuesday, 2/17/15 (which has been announced in class multiple times, as well as posted on the board for the past week and a half). Students will receive a paper study guide on Monday to help guide their preparation for the test, but they have a lot of the material already in their possession in the form of notes and class activities, so they can start going over them on their own now.
As always, don't forget to go to the tab above if you need another copy of a handout from class or to refer to a lesson again!

Analytic Geometry week of 1/12/15
This week, we will be further developing ideas about similarity and congruence, especially between triangles. The schedule for the week looks something like this (and notes, handouts, worksheets, etc will be uploaded as they become available):
Monday: baseline common assessment - our final exam in May will be compared to this assessment to see how much we've grown & learned
Tuesday: Pythagorean Theorem & parallel lines cut by a transversal (and all the special pairs of angles they create)
Wednesday: Triangle congruence shortcuts (SSS, SAS, ASA, AAS, & HL)
Thursday: More triangle congruence
Friday: Even more triangle congruence, and proving that the shortcuts are true!
*The test for Unit 1 is scheduled for next Friday, January 23! A study guide will be provided in class as it gets closer.

Analytic Geometry - Spring Semester Schedule
So here's what the Analytic Geometry teachers (thank you, Ms. Milani!) have set as the schedule for students to expect this semester. This is so we can try to fit in everything before the EOC in May. It is obviously subject to a few changes and tweaks as necessary as the semester progresses, but is being posted to give you a heads up (and so you can see - we don't have a moment to waste)!
Please click below, and I look forward to seeing everyone in class for a great spring!
