Analytic Geometry week of 1/26/15
This week we will move quickly, through Unit 2 - Right Triangle Trigonometry, where almost all you need to know in the unit can be summed up in one word: SohCahToa! The schedule looks like this:
Monday 1/26 - Introduction to Trig Ratios
Tuesday 1/27 - Practice determining which trig ratios to use in different scenarios
Wednesday 1/28 - Solve various trig problems for side lengths or angle measures using trig ratios
Thursday 1/29 - Application problems involving angles of elevation & depression (still trig ratios!)
Friday 1/30 - Review for Monday's Unit 2 Test!
Yes, that's really all there is to Unit 2! Please see tab above for any available handouts from class.

Geometric Constructions
In class on 1/21/15, we will be learning and practicing 8 geometric constructions. Use the tab above, Teaching Videos, to access the videos showing the constructions, along with the handout from class with the step-by-step instructions.

Analytic Geometry Week of 1/20/15
This (short) week, we have the end of Unit 1 to wrap up, and the Unit 1 Test to take at the end of it. The schedule looks like this:
Monday 1/19 - No School (MLK Day Holiday)
Tuesday 1/20 - Parallelograms Properties, and how to use them to set up and solve problems
Wednesday 1/21 - Geometric Constructions, using a compass & straight edge (if you can get your own compass, even better!)
Thursday 1/22 - finish up constructions, and review unit 1
Friday 1/23 - Unit 1 Test

Analytic Geometry week of 1/12/15
This week, we will be further developing ideas about similarity and congruence, especially between triangles. The schedule for the week looks something like this (and notes, handouts, worksheets, etc will be uploaded as they become available):
Monday: baseline common assessment - our final exam in May will be compared to this assessment to see how much we've grown & learned
Tuesday: Pythagorean Theorem & parallel lines cut by a transversal (and all the special pairs of angles they create)
Wednesday: Triangle congruence shortcuts (SSS, SAS, ASA, AAS, & HL)
Thursday: More triangle congruence
Friday: Even more triangle congruence, and proving that the shortcuts are true!
*The test for Unit 1 is scheduled for next Friday, January 23! A study guide will be provided in class as it gets closer.

Analytic Geometry - Spring Semester Schedule
So here's what the Analytic Geometry teachers (thank you, Ms. Milani!) have set as the schedule for students to expect this semester. This is so we can try to fit in everything before the EOC in May. It is obviously subject to a few changes and tweaks as necessary as the semester progresses, but is being posted to give you a heads up (and so you can see - we don't have a moment to waste)!
Please click below, and I look forward to seeing everyone in class for a great spring!
